Las Rocas Villa is situated on the Costa de la Luz (coast of light), where the Andalusian coastline meets the Atlantic Ocean. Where endless sweeping golden sands are backed by rolling green hillsides dotted with sparkling whitewashed pueblos.
The region is blessed with a multitude of activities for all tastes and energy levels, but thankfully we’re still relatively untouched by mainstream tourism, which makes the Costa de la Luz popular with the more discerning traveller who prefers a less crowded beach destination.
If your ideal holiday is all relaxing and rejuvenating the mind, body and soul, there are two magnificent beaches just a short walk from the villa. Alternatively yoga and massages can be arranged by the pool.
If you crave adventure and love watersports, the kite surfing mecca of Tarifa is only a short drive down the coast and for those who love board surf, the incredible beach of El Palmar is renowned for its perfect waves to hang ten.
The province of Cadiz has an altogether different cultural vibe to neighbouring Malaga. It’s Arabic past evident in the villages that perch on hanging mountaintops overlooking the coast, and in its capital city Cadiz. If you want to spend a few days immersed in the Andalusian culture we recommend visits to Cadiz, Jerez, Ronda and Seville. Cities full of diverse and vibrant histories, stunning architecture and interesting shops and boutiques.
Closeby the sugarcube villages of Vejer de la Frontera, Arcos de la Frontera and Conil de la Frontera, yes they are all Fronteras - which means they were frontier towns that guarded against marauders and pirates, and protected whoever happened to currently rule over Andalusia.
If you want explore even further, Tangiers in Morocco is a short ferry ride away from Tarifa or Algeciras. For more information visit our links page.
